Tables with Two Columns
You will begin by selecting the Insert Table icon on a blank page. When you do, you'll be presented with a dialog box that should look something like this:

A word of caution: You should really insert your table first thing, instead of trying to superimpose one of pre-existing text. The table will take over and you'll lose the text you had on the page!
For now, stick with the "plain" class and choose 1 row and 2 columns. Do not check the Create Headings box just yet. We'll talk more about what these things mean a little later. Now push the Add Table button to continue. You should see some unremarkable thing like this appear:

Since you don't have any text yet you're looking at an empty table with two table cells. Try clicking within the left cell and start typing some text. You'll see that the table resizes itself based on the text you're inputting. Now click inside the right cell and add some more text. You should see that the table has grown a little bigger:

Please note that the "plain" class is for a table without borders. You only see borders when in EDIT mode for ease of use. We'll discuss table borders later.
Now let's copy and paste our data about the elements into these two cells. With a little playing around, you should get a result like this one:
